Hello! I’m the Reverend Brian Underwood, and I am so blessed to be pastor here at Dacusville United Methodist Church.
I’m so very excited for the launch of our new website, and I would encourage you if you ever have any website design needs to contact Karen Dover of And Then Designs. She has been amazing to work with.
And so as we pause this week for the Thanksgiving holiday, I am so thankful for Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, and I am so thankful for my family and also for my church family here at Dacusville United Methodist, and for the Dacusville community.
On this coming Monday from 11 to 1 and Tuesday 4 to 5:30 in front of the church, we’ll be handing out a very limited number of Thanksgiving meals. These are ready for you to take home and prepare and we’re only going to do this till our supply runs out so hopefully though this’ll be a blessing to some of our families here in the community.
And then after we take a pause Wednesday through Saturday for family time, celebrating Thanksgiving at our homes, we’ll return here for the first Sunday of Advent as we anticipate and prepare for remembering the first Advent of Christ some two thousand twenty-four years ago, and as we await his final Advent yet to come. During this time, we’re utilizing a wonderful Advent resource by the Reverend Dr. Will Willimon entitled Heaven and Earth. During this Advent season we will be studying on Monday, December 2 from 6:30 until about 8 and then that will meet in our conference room here at the back of the sanctuary, and our daytime study will meet on Wednesday, December 4 in the fellowship hall here behind the church at 11 a.m. I I would ask you to consider coming out and joining us in these times.
Each Sunday throughout Advent, we will have a special time of lighting candles on the Advent wreath, and our sermon series will follow the Heaven and Earth materials by Dr. Willimon.
During the first Sunday, which is December 1, of Advent, we will have our gospel reading from Mark 3:24-37 and the message title is “Meanwhile.” I urge you to come and check it out at 11 a.m.
And, again, I hope you will check out our new website and enjoy the information that’s found there, but most importantly, I pray that you will consider to stop in and meet us in person and let us share the love of Christ together.
Until next week, blessings for the journey,
– Pastor Brian
